A Humanitarian Mission Rooted in Compassion

A delegation from the Sharjah Charity International (SCI), led by Ali Mohammed Al Rashdi, Head of External Projects and Aid Sector, concluded a field visit to the Republic of Kenya that lasted several days. The visit included the implementation of notable humanitarian and medical initiatives as part of the organization’s international programs, aligned with its mission to extend aid to communities in need around the world.

Bringing Life Back to Children’s Hearts

Al Rashdi stated that the visit saw the successful completion of 32 complex surgical procedures for children, including cardiac catheterizations and open-heart surgeries, conducted by the volunteer medical team of the "Little Hearts" campaign, led by Dr. Ahmed Al Kamali, Pediatric Cardiology Consultant at Al Qassimi Women and Children’s Hospital.

He explained that these life-saving procedures were carried out for children born with congenital heart defects that had severely impacted their quality of life. This initiative offered them not just medical care, but a renewed chance at living normally and healthily.

A Legacy of Medical Outreach Since 2009

Al Rashdi noted that this campaign is part of SCI’s ongoing international medical missions, which have been conducted outside the UAE since 2009, and have successfully treated more than 1,600 children around the world.

Volunteerism at the Heart of the Initiative

He emphasized that the entire medical team participates on a fully voluntary basis, moved solely by a genuine humanitarian mission to alleviate suffering and bring hope to children and their families. Their commitment reflects the spirit of service deeply embedded in the values of the UAE.

Beyond Surgery: Reaching Remote Communities in Need

After completing the surgeries, the SCI delegation traveled to remote and underserved areas in Kenya that suffer from a lack of basic services and widespread poverty.

1,500 Food Parcels Distributed to Underprivileged Families

As part of their humanitarian outreach, the team distributed food baskets to 1,500 low-income families, helping meet their essential nutritional needs and supporting their daily living conditions.

Direct Field Supervision to Ensure Aid Reaches the Right Hands

Al Rashdi confirmed that all distributions were carried out under the direct field supervision of the SCI team, and in coordination with local authorities, to ensure aid was delivered effectively and ethically to those who needed it most.

Integrating Healthcare, Relief, and Development

He reaffirmed SCI’s commitment to a holistic humanitarian model that integrates medical care, relief aid, and developmental support to empower communities and equip individuals with tools for long-term self-reliance.

Empowering Lives with Dignity and Hope

Al Rashdi concluded by praising the medical and logistical teams for their dedication and passion, noting that their efforts truly embody the UAE’s vision of compassion, generosity, and responsible humanitarian leadership.
